remember that one time someone asked diana if there was anything going on between her and clark and this was her response:

It’s funny how it’s always the Muslim woman who is “oppressed”
Forever Reblog.
I genuinely don’t know this. For the Catholics, in the US at least, covering the head isn’t much of a current thing except among nuns, which is a super-special high level of religious commitment on a par with monk. Is wearing hijab on a par with that?
no its definitely a lot more common and id have more articulate things to say but im sleepy

"People of color know how to default to white. We know how to fade to white in our minds. We can, and do place ourselves in white people’s shoes. Effortlessly. Too bad our shoes don’t fit anyone else but us."

I think Stokely Carmichael said it best when he noted that “in order for non-violence to work, your opponent must have a conscience”. And it’s true. People who have absolutely no problem with your oppression now aren’t going to treat you better because you’ve suffered without fighting back.
People bring up the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement in the US and a whitewashed watered-down version of Martin Luther King Jr. in order to support non-violence. Not only are these depictions inaccurate, but people don’t even realize that white supremacy didn’t disappear in the 1970’s. Segregation not only continued, but got worse. People of color are still racially profiled. People of color are still discriminated against in the real estate market, when driving, at school, etc. It’s a lot easier for people to focus on the small victories and ignore that there is still so much work to be done.
